Temperature Measurement

Solutions

The miniature measuring amplifiers of the MAL-Series make the connection to the measuring systems of BMC Messsysteme GmbH totally easy. Using 5B compatible measuring amplifiers a galvanic separation of the signal is possible.

With the miniature measurement amplifiers of the MAL-Series it is very easy to connect your sensors to the measurement systems of BMC Messsysteme GmbH. With our 5B compatible measurement amplifiers these signals can even be galvanically isolated from the measurement system.

Temperature measurement is the most popular kind of measurement in measuring technology. For example surrounding from -20 ... +50°C or temperatures in technical application ranges that can be over 1.000°C are widely used. In most cases temperature changes very slow. There are special cases, e.g. a firing point in which the temperature changes in just a few milliseconds.

Basically there are two very different measuring methods for acquiring temperatures within industrial measuring technology. For one the acquisition of the resistance value of a PT-100 sensor. On the other hand the measuring of minimal voltage of a thermo element. The PT-100 measurement requires measuring amplifiers that adjust and enhance the non-linear resistance value. For thermo elements a measuring amplifier with very high amplification is necessary that also adjusts the non-linear signal. Unlike the PT-100 measuring the measurement with a thermo element is just a difference measurement. That means that the thermo element measures the difference in temperature between the actual thermo element and the connection point to the measuring system. Therefore the temperature at the connection point has to be measured very precisely to get an exact result. In the PT-100 measuring technology attention should be paid to the fact that resistance in the cable lenght distorts the measuring result. This can be avoided by using four-wire-technology. A contact free temperature measurement can be achieved by applying an infrared temperature meter. This involves high expenses and limited precision.
